Big Brother Knows Where You Are
The BBC News is reporting here that the US Government is working on a program that will allow them to "pinpoint someone's location anywhere in the world simply by typing a few keywords on [their] PC."
The MetaCarta program works by analysing thousands of documents and cross-checking the results with a massive geographical database.
"The government and international security agencies have a desire to find, track and sometimes arrest people," said Randy Ridley, MetaCarta's Vice President of Sales. "Our system can be used to find them across the globe."

let's all sing like psychotics
"The government and international security agencies have a desire to find, track and sometimes arrest people." Why not "and sometimes give people big, expensive presents"? If they were smart, they'd start throwing things like that in to calm us down.
Posted by: Shellen at February 2, 2004 07:02 PMThe U.S. Government has been tracking people since the concept of survelliance. With the Patriot Act and the Homeland Security Act we have signed on the dotted line and provided our the U.S. Government a free card to do so. The U.S. Government feels very comfortable now coming out about it's survelliance in mainstream media. We have given them the legal authority by repealing the civil liberties that were part of the foundation of this country. All a guise for the rich and the exploitation of less developed third world countries.
