If I ever lose my faith.... in biology
No one knows what to believe anymore. Society is dominating scientific research.
A professor of mine was offered money (alot!) to manipulate his experiment to suit social norms and fancies. Eventually he didn't take it and the project is open to anyone who wishes to carry it out.
We don't know for sure if Homo erectus and Homo habilus even existed let alone the differences between them because the guy researching it just stuck a bunch of bones together and made false readings. Most scientists to please society still believe that the cranial capacity of early man is less than modern man and thus modern man is smarter and more advanced. Tell me this, if modern man with his gigantic cranial capacity were left alone on an island he would adapt with the help of his environment leading a simple life- that of primitive man. So who is really smarter?
Smart is a relative term. Without a doubt primitive man had better survival skills than modern man. But at the same time, modern man has made great advances in technology and other life-improving methods.
Yes, I doubt I'd be able to survive that long if left alone on an island, but at the same time, I know I can build web pages that allow people to share their thoughts and gives them a place to voice their opinions without having to inherit a large fortune to start a newspaper.
So, again... smart is a relative term and the whole point of evolution is to get better at what's necessary to advance the species and in today's day and age being able to survive on a remote island is a far fetched need.
That's why we celebrate the lives of rocket scientists and nuclear engineers instead of the chap who cut his arm off with a blunt knife when it got lodged in a stone, and made it home alive.
Now, why's the air-conditioning not working properly here? It's only 65F while the outside is at a crisp 85F. ;)
