Smart Spiders Seek Sex Selectively
The BBC has this fascinating article about how "Spiders 'remember [their] first date'".
Reading the article had me fascinated and made the hair on the back of my neck stand up at the same time. What's interesting about the article is that it talks about how "invertebrates have social recognition, which can be maintained and remembered throughout the different phases of their lives" and how "fitter, stronger males tend to mature earlier and, because females want to choose the fittest males to father their young, they choose the ones they remembered were sexually mature when they were still juvenile."
Smart Spiders Surprise Spookily.
