The Taste of Thunder!

On a random lunch excursion yesterday (Thursday), Brandon and I decided to try Indian food at this local place called Ambala Dhaba. Now, I've been there before and the food's been consistently good and served up at a price that's just right.

While ordering, I notice the elixir of life, the source of happiness, bottled thunder- Thums Up in the cooler. Of course, as any self-respecting person who's grown up in the 80s in India, I had to Taste the Thunder. Nothing compares to the joy of Thums Up. To eat food and chug a sip of this beverage brings about a feeling that's equal to ... well, nothing else on the planet.

Brandon loved it too. Now, the next goal is to find a crate of this good stuff and keep it in the refreigerator for whenever the urge to Taste the Thunder strikes again.

One more thought after returning to Ambala Dhaba JUST FOR THE SODA (and taking 3 bottles to go, that's right)...

It occured to me that, when drinking this soda, life imitates art, in a rare but riveting way.

Have you seen the movie Shawshank Redemption? Fine movie adapted from Stephen King. Remember when Andy (Tim Robbins) and the crew are re-tarring the roof of the prison on what seems like the hottest summer in memory? Andy makes a life-risking gamble that pays off. The reward?

To quote the movie:
"And that's how it came to pass, that on the second-to-last day of the job, the convict crew that tarred the plate factory roof in the spring of '49...
...wound up sitting in a row at ten in the morning, drinking icy cold Black Label Beer courtesy of the hardest screw that ever walked a turn at Shawshank State Prison."

THAT, my friends, is Thums Up in a nutshell.
